Class is back in session and that means several first-year UNMC students recently took part in White Coat ceremonies.

The presentation of the white coats is a student’s symbolic first step into his or her profession.

The coats are donated annually to UNMC and the students by generous medical center alumni and they symbolize professionalism and commitment to uphold the highest standards of one’s chosen field.

In all, 382 students from UNMC’s Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Dentistry received their white coats during the recent ceremonies.
