UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., speaks at April’s strategic planning retreat. The plan that was formulated at the retreat has been posted on the UNMC Intranet. |
The Web page can be found here or by clicking on the “Detailed Plan” link under the Strategic Plan tab on the Quick Connect section of the Intranet home page.
The plan was developed following the April 16 Chancellor’s Retreat and outlines the direction of the medical center for the near future.
“I encourage employees to review the plan and see the direction we are headed as a medical center,” said John Adams, Ph.D., assistant vice chancellor for budget and strategic planning. “This is a living document that will require staff from across the campus to work together to achieve the goals laid out in the plan.”
The plan is built upon six critical success factors, which are:
- UNMC will be learning-centered in education;
- Increase prominence as a research health sciences center;
- Advance community/campus partnerships for health;
- Create a culturally competent organization;
- Advance biomedical technologies to improve health, diversify UNMC revenues
and create economic growth in Nebraska; and
- Strengthen employee loyalty, satisfaction and wellness.

Each quarter, UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., will review the progress that has been made in the plan’s implementation and each college, institute and major support unit will develop individual strategic plans that parallel the campus plan, Dr. Adams said.
“The strategic plan serves as a road map that highlights the landmarks we must pass to achieve our goal of being a world-class academic health sciences center,” Dr. Adams said. “It unifies our focus as a campus and lets us collectively move toward the realization of our true potential.”
