MMI Garden Walk set for June 14

picture disc.

The garden of Larry and Penny Rosso will be among those featured during the MMI Gardenwalk on June 14.

Come rain or shine, the Munroe-Meyer Institute Guild will host the 41st Garden Walk on June 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit children and adults with developmental disabilities through various programs and research at MMI.

This year’s Garden Walk will feature creative ideas in landscaping, planting and patio treatments at the homes of:

  • Jim and Robin Griess, 1526 S. 93rd St. — This landscape is a “work of art” that started 20 years ago. The family built a yard with gardens full of amazing colors and textures that are enjoyed year round;
  • Dave and Bonnie Looman, 8703 Grover St. — This beautiful garden, a “never ending but fulfilling work in progress,” is that of a former Munroe-Meyer staffer. It includes flowers that bloom throughout the entire season and features a pond and waterfall that is home for cattails, water lilies and a few lucky fish;
  • Dr. Frederic Ogren, 9977 Spring St. — This garden can take you in many directions, from a sun garden to a stone patio by the creek to a courtyard with a waterfall;
  • Tom and Mimi Ramsbottom, 21625 Chancellor Road — This “slice of heaven on Earth” combines a family’s love of entertaining, gardening and golf all in one awesome setting; and
  • Larry and Penny Rosso, 1607 S. 189th Court — Daydream in this garden as you take in the view of the trellis with grapevines, a towering ornate steel frame topped with a birdhouse, an antique garden gate that backs up balloon flowers, and a variety of colored glass ornaments that reflect the sunlight.

Garden Walk tickets are on sale now. Advance tickets are $12. Tickets will be $15 on the day of the event at all gardens. Children under 12 are free; however, no strollers are allowed in the gardens.

Advance tickets may be purchased at Hy-Vee Stores in Omaha and Council Bluffs as well as local nurseries.
