Those were words of advice from UNMC’s 2008 Scientist Laureate Howard Gendelman, M.D., to his colleagues Monday afternoon at the third annual Distinguished Scientist ceremony.
Dr. Gendelman, professor and chairman of the department of pharmacology and experimental neuroscience, spoke at the event held in the Durham Research Center Auditorium.
The event was held to honor Dr. Gendelman and 22 other UNMC researchers who were named Distinguished Scientists and New Investigators for 2008.
“You should shoot for the stars, and if you hit the moon that’s OK,” Dr. Gendelman said. “But, always reach for what’s beyond your reach.”
Dr. Gendelman is the third recipient of the Scientist Laureate award — the highest honor UNMC bestows on its investigators.
