Holiday music to be featured today during Music as Medicine

Burke High School’s Burke Ensemble will perform holiday tunes today starting at noon during the Music as Medicine concert in the Durham Outpatient Center’s West Atrium.

The ensemble is an auditioned group, drawn from the entire student body at Burke High School. Ensemble members sing styles of music ranging from classical to Broadway and jazz.

During the holiday season, the ensemble performs for church groups, clubs, elementary schools and assisted living homes. This month, they will have as many as 15 performances.

This is the second-consecutive year the Burke choir has performed during the December Music as Medicine concert.

Everyone is encouraged to bring lunch and enjoy the uplifting holiday music. This concert is sponsored by the College of Nursing.

The next Music as Medicine concert will be on Jan. 15 and will feature music from the Omaha Chamber Music Society.
