Lecture to focus on Durham Museum’s hidden treasures

Did you know that most museums display less than five percent of the objects they own? There are many reasons why artifacts are not exhibited. Some may be too fragile and some may not fit the museum’s mission, but all tell a unique story.

The Durham Museum is offering an exclusive opportunity to medical center employees and students to discuss such artifacts at the museum in a lecture titled “Hidden Treasures – Museums beyond Exhibits.”

Join The Durham Museum’s Curator, Carrie Wieners, on Tuesday, Oct. 7, as she journeys through the museum’s collection and looks at some of Omaha’s “hidden treasures.”

The lecture, which will take place in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater at noon, is offered through the Time Travelers partnership, which provides free museum admission for medical center employees, students, and their immediate family with valid identification badges, while also offering lectures, workshops and other events on the medical center campus.

Employees are encouraged to bring their lunch.
