Web site and lunch and learns aimed at career development

A note from UNMC Human Resources

UNMC Human Resources has rolled out a new Web site dedicated to career development for medical center employees.

The intent is to give employees that are interested in developing their skills and moving up in the organization a place to learn what opportunities exist and how to get started with their development.

The Web site contains three main components:

  • Examples of possible career paths within the NU Values job families, along with the associated required qualifications.
  • Description of UNMC educational programs such as information technology training classes, Foundations for Success, the management series and the Employee and Dependent Scholarship program.
  • Additional reference materials pertaining to completing UNMC’s online employment application and interviewing skills for employees that will need to apply for an open position in order to advance.

Visit the Web site by clicking here.

Also, UNMC Human Resources will be hosting career development lunch and learn workshops in the College of Nursing, Room 1010 on March 18, and Room 1011 on March 20. Both sessions run from noon to 1 p.m. Topics covered will include:

  • Taking control of your own career;
  • Resources available through UNMC;
  • Examples of career paths within UNMC;
  • Tips to remember when applying for UNMC job postings; and
  • Tour of UNMC Career Development Web site.

To attend one of the lunch and learn sessions please sign up through Sapphire by clicking here.

A sack lunch will be provided to the first 50 registered participants. Contact Tina Randle in Human Resources at 559-4101 for more information.
