All nonessential UNMC offices will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, which are paid holidays for medical center faculty and staff.
Human Resources has had a number of questions about the status of Monday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 31, which are known as “sandwich” days because they fall between a weekend and a holiday.
“The campus will be open and operational Monday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 31,” said John Russell, assistant vice chancellor for human resources. “However, with appropriate consideration for departmental business requirements and anticipated workload, supervisory personnel are asked to be as flexible as circumstances permit in allowing employees to use vacation leave or a floating holiday on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.”
Mail Services operations will not be altered for the holiday.
