Public invited to free non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma presentation

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society invites the public to a free presentation on non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma on Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. CDT.

The presentation will be transmitted live from Omaha via teleconference to Lincoln, Grand Island, Kearney, North Platte, Hastings and Scottsbluff.

During a presentation titled “Meet the Doctor About Vaccine Therapy, Clinical Trials and Other Treatments for non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma,” Julie Vose, M.D., professor of medicine and chief of the UNMC oncology/hematology section, will discuss the latest information on non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, including treatments and how targeted therapies work, as well as new drugs. She also will talk about clinical trials.

UNMC — along with its hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center — is home to one of the most successful cancer centers in the world.

Medical center scientists are known particularly for their expertise in leukemias and lymphomas. The cancer team has led and participated in research that has resulted in better cancer treatments and improved patient care around the world.
