The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) has announced that 2007-08 season tickets for men’s hockey are available — with some important changes from last year’s offering.
Improvements in the Mavs’ season ticket packages include the elimination of priority pricing, a new online ticketing option, additional season tickets at special 10th anniversary prices and a first-ever “Red Army” special season ticket package.
UNO will no longer offer priority pricing on ticket packages, making those seats available at regular season ticket prices without an additional donation to the university. Current season ticket holders will have until June 15 to reserve their seats. For the first time, fans can also go online to get tickets by visiting www.unotix.com. Ticket packages for the general public are priced at the following:
- Full season ticket/lower bowl — $345/$100 deposit
- Full season ticket/upper bowl – $276/$100 deposit
- 10-game pack/lower bowl – $150/$50 deposit
- 10-game pack/upper bowl – $120/$50 deposit
Faculty and staff at UNO and UNMC will receive a 20 percent discount when they purchase a ticket package. The discount will be applied when the balance of a faculty or staff member’s ticket package purchase is billed later this summer.
Additional 10th anniversary season tickets are available to celebrate a decade of Division I hockey at UNO. When current season tickets are renewed at regular price, fans can purchase additional full season tickets at a special discount.
Lower bowl tickets will sell for $237.50, while upper bowl seats will be $199.50. There’s no limit to the amount of additional season tickets — fans can purchase as many as they want.
For the first time, the Mavs will also offer exclusive “Red Army” section tickets — $99 for the season. The upper bowl seats in the south end of the Qwest Center are home to UNO’s rowdiest fans. The tickets, located in sections 209-216, require a $25 deposit.
UNO head coach Mike Kemp starts his 11th year at the helm for the Mavs. With a home ice record of 13-6-2 this past year, Kemp says that the club’s fans are a great asset to the team.
“Our fans are a tremendous help to us every time we hit the ice,” he said. “We appreciate the support we get in Omaha and we’re looking forward to another great season.”
Next season’s tentative 21-game home schedule is highlighted with perennial CCHA match-ups:
- Nov. 2-4 — Michigan
- Nov. 16-17 — Ferris State
- Nov. 23-24 — Alaska
- Dec. 7-8 — Lake Superior State
- Jan. 11-12 — Miami-Ohio
- Feb. 8-9 — Ohio State
- Feb. 15-16 — Bowling Green
“We are very proud of our student-athletes at UNO,” said John Christensen, UNO interim chancellor. “The hockey team is a very competitive NCAA Division I program and I believe our fans think so too. I encourage everyone take advantage of the new season ticket plan and get out to the games next year.”
Last season, Omaha fans gave the Mavs great support in the stands, ranking UNO third in the league and 10th in the nation in college hockey attendance. During the 2006-07 campaign, the Qwest Center saw an average of 5,579 fans during UNO’s 21-game home schedule. The team also attracted more than 6,000 fans to seven games last year — including 8,578 at the Michigan State contest on Feb. 3.
