The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing held induction ceremonies across the state Oct. 8 to recognize 129 new nursing students as they committed to academic integrity and begin assimilating the values and behaviors of the professional nurse.

The ceremony reiterated values for the professional nurse and the profession ofnursing: responsibility, trustworthiness, honesty, fairness and respect of others.

Ceremonies were held in Scottsbluff, Kearney, Lincoln and Omaha.

During the ceremony, students recited an oath of professionalism and signed a pledge.

They also received the college’s patch to be worn on their uniforms.

Receptions attended by the students and their families followed the ceremonies at each location.
