2005 international photo contest winners announced

This photo, taken by Katalin Rabl, Ph.D., garners top honors in the IS&P photo contest.

Katalin Rabl, Ph.D., ophthalmology, is the grand prize-winner in the fifth annual International Photography Contest, sponsored by UNMC International Studies and Programs.

Dr. Rabal’s prize-winning photo, titled “Mid-Summer, Middle-European Dreams,” shows a homeless man lying on a bench while the world races by. The photo was taken in Europe.

Carolyn Nussrallah, pulmonary medicine, captured first-place in the faculty/staff category with her entry, “Morning in Wadi Rum.” In the photo, Bedouin children are featured against the red sandstone hills in Wadi Rum, Jordan.

Cassie Cash’s photo receives first place in the student/resident category.

Cassie Cash, a second-year UNMC College of Medicine student, took top honors in the student/resident category with her winning photo, “In the Eyes of a Child,” taken in Ibulanku Village outside Iganga, Uganda.
