UNMC’s pre-party for “The Night of 1,000 Stars” netted more than $13,000 for the Nebraska Aids Project (NAP).

Disco was the theme for the UNMC party, as the Omaha Woman’s Club was transformed Dec. 4 into a discotheque complete with disco balls and disco music piped throughout the mansion. Disco flair was the fashion to wear and several of the guests put on their “boogie shoes” to “shake, shake, shake” their booties.

The party was hosted by four UNMC staff members — Dr. Joseph Hoagbin, Mike McGlade, Keith Swarts and Dr. Susan Swindells. The more than 100 people attending the UNMC party were treated to gourmet hors d’oeuvres and an evening they would always remember, Swarts said.

When the pre-party was over, guests headed to Qwest Center Omaha for an evening of premier desserts by Omaha’s finest restaurants, dancing and musical entertainment by K.C. and the Sunshine Band.

NAP officials reported that more than $390,000 was raised through all the Night of 1,000 Stars pre-parties held around the city and the main party at Qwest Center Omaha.
