New UNMC compliance policies announced

Two new UNMC policies related to compliance have been published:

1. Policy 6108, Compliance Hotline Policy. Employees and students who have compliance-related questions or concerns are encouraged to share them as soon as possible so an appropriate action can be taken. Policy 6108 describes channels employees and students may use to report activities or conduct that they suspect may violate University of Nebraska or UNMC policies and procedures, or laws and regulations applicable to UNMC.

Several channels exist to report compliance concerns, including:

  • Discuss the issue with supervisory personnel or a faculty adviser (students)
  • Contact the department that has subject matter expertise in the area of concern
  • Contact the Human Resources Department for human resources issues
  • Contact the Ombudsteam for faculty or student issues at 559-2491.
  • Contact the Compliance Office at 559-6767
  • Call the UNMC Compliance Hotline at 1-866-568-5430.

The Compliance Hotline is operated by a third party organization hired to collect and document information provided on the call. The hotline company generates call reports to the Compliance Officer. Individuals who contact the compliance hotline may remain anonymous, within the limits of the law.

2. Policy 6109, Investigations by Government Officials, Regulatory Agencies, and Other Third Parties, establishes response procedures designed to protect the interests of UNMC and provide for appropriate cooperation in the event that government investigators or regulatory agencies contact or visit UNMC.

If you have any questions regarding these policies, contact Sheila Wrobel, UNMC Compliance Officer, at 559-6767.
