UNMC oncologists, James Armitage, M.D., Stefano Tarantolo, M.D., and Marcel Devetten, M.D., (left to right in the photo) participated in a live, national Internet question and answer session Wednesday sponsored by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
During the session, people asked questions of the experts on lymphoma, multiple myeloma and leukemia, while Jean Picarelli of ASCO (far right in the photo), entered the panel members’ answers into the computer for projection onto an 8-by-12-foot screen in the room.
At peak use, 70 people were logged on to ask questions. A total of 106 questions were submitted before or during the session.
According to Jessica Petit of ASCO, the People Living With Cancer Web site has held 26 chats to date and another six are planned before the end of the year.
Thousands of people have accessed the free transcripts on the Web, Petit said. To get a free transcript for this session, go to www.PLWC.org.
