The campus community is invited to attend the naming ceremony for the UNMC Research Center of Excellence Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m.
UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., and the University of Nebraska Foundation will host the event that will take place on the first floor of the building currently under construction on 45th Street.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to bestow an official name on the Research Center for Excellence and to recognize the generosity of Chuck Durham and the other principal donors who have made construction of this building possible,” Dr. Maurer said. “It is essential to UNMC’s vision to advance research and train outstanding health professionals.”
The $77 million, 10-level research building, funded entirely by private donations, is scheduled to open next fall. Principal donors are: Durham Foundation; Peter Kiewit Foundation; Suzanne and Walter Scott Jr.; Ruth and Bill Scott; Stanley Truhlsen, M.D.; Mary and Dick Holland; The Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Memorial Foundation; Gail Walling Yanney, M.D., and Michael Yanney; and a donor who has asked to remain anonymous.
Chancellor Maurer will serve as emcee of the ceremony that will include remarks by several university, business and governmental leaders.
A luncheon for principal donors and special guests will follow in the Durham Outpatient Center West Lobby Atrium.
