Med center faculty, staff, students and colleagues should be aware of a planned water outage this week that will impact University Tower.

The outage – in all four buildings that make up University Tower – is expected to last 12 hours, beginning Thursday, May 1, at 6 p.m. and running until Friday, May 2, at 6 a.m. UNMC Facilities Management and Planning will replace a deteriorated valve on the water main, as well as a few other aging valves.

The project will impact the following areas:

  • University Tower 1 – Both hot and cold water service will be offline.
  • University Tower 2 – Both hot and cold water service will be offline.
  • University Tower 3 – Hot water service will be offline.
  • University Tower 4 – Hot water service will be unavailable. Public restrooms by B Elevators will be out of service at Level 2, Level 3 and Level 5.

Impacted areas have been notified; operational adjustments may result, depending on the area and its function. UNMC Facilities Management and Planning will place signage on public restrooms impacted by the outage. All restrooms on all floors of University Tower 1 and University Tower 2 will be out of service due to the cold-water outage. Restrooms in University Tower 3 and University Tower 4 can be used, with the exception of the elevator lobby restrooms mentioned above.
