We are so excited to welcome our newest residents and fellows! We have four PGY1 residents and one PGY2 transfer resident, plus five new fellows and one returning fellow. Learn more about them here:

Residents

Matthew Carr

PGY1
Undergrad: Truman State University, Kirksville, Missouri
Medical school: Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Matthew is originally from Fairfield, Iowa. He has interest in supporting his hometown area as a community pathologist. We enjoyed having him rotate in our department this past year and welcome him in joining our resident team.

Undergrad: John A. Logan Community College, Carver, Illinois
Medical school: Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Carbondale
Austyn was born and raised in southern Illinois. He was in the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Lincoln Scholars Program, dedicated to training the next generation of rural physicians. He also founded the Pathology Interest Group at his medical school branch. He worked as a phlebotomist prior to medical school.

Larissa has extensive rotation experience in pathology and was an active member of her medical school’s Pathology Interest Group. She was nominated for the CAP Distinguished Medical Student Award for 2025.

We are excited to welcome Lili back to UNMC as a PGY2 transfer resident from Buffalo, New York. Originally from China, she was a researcher at UNMC with an interest in hematopathology. She has family in the Omaha area.
