The American Heart Association’s annual Greater Omaha Heart & Stroke Walk will be held on Saturday, May 17, at The RiverFront, 1001 Douglas St.

Over the past 30 years, the Heart & Stroke Walk has become the association’s premier event in the community. Not only does it celebrate heart and stroke survivors, but it also promotes physical activity, heart-heathy living and raises funds for research, advocacy and CPR training.

“By registering for the Omaha Heart & Stroke Walk, you are taking the first step to save lives,” said Kelly Morris, development director, Nebraska American Heart Association. “Every step taken, every dollar contributed, brings us closer to groundbreaking research and more lives saved through CPR training. We invite you to unite with family, friends and colleagues on May 17th to be a relentless force in creating a future of longer, healthier lives for all.”

As of earlier this week, the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine community has 35 registered walkers, 11 teams and has raised a combined total of $1,000.
