Construction progressing at UNMC’s Kearney expansion

Construction continues on the new Health Science Education Center II building, part of the Douglas A. Kristensen Rural Health Education Complex on the west side of the University of Nebraska at Kearney’s campus. The facility will further UNMC’s expansion of its health science education programs in the central part of the state.

Project managers report that startup of air handling units is set for this month, with elevator installation scheduled for March and April.

Installation of overhead electrical continues on the first floor east. Meanwhile, drywall tape and other finish work for third floor east is ongoing.

Vinyl floor installation on the third floor was set for this month. Workers also are installing tile backsplash on second floor west.

The complex is set for final completion in 2026.
