‘You Are a Star’ employee appreciation event is today

A quarterly employee appreciation pop-up was held Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Center for Healthy Living. There were food trucks, carnival games, line dancing, and prizes available.

UNMC Human Resources invites all Omaha UNMC employees to celebrate National Employee Appreciation Day at the “You Are a Star” event today (March 6) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Truhlsen Events Center.

UNMC Human Resources is rolling out the red carpet for UNMC’s amazing employees. This event, sponsored by the chancellor’s office, is part of UNMC’s ongoing commitment to appreciate the hard work and dedication of the individuals who make UNMC so special.

Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, said: “Our employees are the heart of our community, and I want to thank all our faculty and staff for their hard work and dedication.

“No matter your role — whether you’re caring for patients, training the next generation of health care providers, performing lifesaving research, keeping our operations running smoothly behind the scenes or leading initiatives that drive our mission forward — you make a difference every single day. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and we deeply appreciate all that you do.”

National Employee Appreciation Day is traditionally observed on the first Friday of March each year. However, due to venue availability, UNMC will celebrate one day early to recognize employees’ outstanding contributions.

“Today is all about recognizing the people who make UNMC a great place to work. We are grateful for the dedication of our faculty and staff, whose efforts keep us moving forward,” said Linda Cunningham, interim executive director of human resources.

Attendees can expect boxed sandwich lunches from Jason’s Deli, giveaways, a popcorn station, 360-degree photo booth, an interactive fire simulator and an opportunity to sign an employee banner that will be hung up in the Durham Research Center commons after the event. Giveaways, food and drinks will be available while supplies last.

Employees will be asked to badge in at the event and should bring their UNMC employee ID badge.

Employees at off-site campuses will receive separate event details soon.
