Approximately 40 members of the Munroe-Meyer Institute community took part last month when MMI held its second Penguin Palooza event.
The event, held at the institute, featured a game station, a penguin stuffing station, face painting and temporary tattoos among the activities.
The event is proving popular among MMI clients and staff, said Jacqueline Hankins-Berry of the community engagement department.
“It’s a nice way to break up the winter and offer our clients a fun activity during the cold months,” she said. “They often stop by the event after their appointments.
“It’s great to see all the participants having fun. And even some of the staff get involved, bringing their clients to the event and enjoying it with them.”
Seven volunteers from the University of Nebraska at Omaha chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association(NSSLHA)/Collegiate Sertoma were on hand to help out, as well.
“The UNO participation has been great,” Hankins-Berry said. “We appreciate their collaboration in this event.”
