UNMC Academic Affairs has welcomed two new team members who will be working to serve UNMC faculty, students and staff.
Alexis Zgud joined in January 2025 as senior communications and media manager and will be leading marketing efforts across all UNMC Academic Affairs departments and units.
Gabby Jensen came on board in September 2024 as the administrative associate supporting Jane Meza, PhD, interim vice chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Zgud came to UNMC from First Five Nebraska, a statewide early childhood and maternal/infant health public policy organization. She has previous experience executing communication strategies across a variety of sectors, from agriculture to tourism.
A Nebraska native from Kearney, Zgud has a master’s degree in integrated media communications and bachelor of journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In her spare time, she moonlights as a pub trivia host, licensed cottage baker and volunteer lasagna maker.
Originally from Winter Park, Florida, Jensen moved to Omaha in 2021 and joined the UNMC Department of Dermatology. Jensen has a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from the University of Central Florida. She is pursuing her MBA while balancing a career and family life as a mom of two. In her downtime and when the Nebraska weather allows, Jensen enjoys hitting the golf course and gardening.
“We hope the campus will extend Alexis and Gabby a warm welcome,” Dr. Meza said. “We are thrilled to have them on board and look forward to the contributions they will make to UNMC Academic Affairs and the UNMC community.”
