A panel of UNMC experts came together Monday to host a conversation about a number of research-related topics.
Ken Bayles, PhD, UNMC vice chancellor for research, led the panel, which included:
- Michele Balas, PhD, associate dean of research and Dorothy Hodges Olson Distinguished Professor of Nursing at the UNMC College of Nursing
- David Doty, director of Sponsored Programs Administration
- Howard Fox, MD, PhD, associate dean of research for the UNMC College of Medicine
- Jeff Kratz, UNMC director of government relations
- Russell McCulloh, MD, associate vice chancellor for clinical research
The forum addressed changes being made during the transition to a new presidential administration. The panel addressed questions and concerns.
A recently launched webpage will provide continuous updates and resources during the transition period.
Dr. Bayles also encouraged science advocacy.
A new option, featured on the Strategic Communications Department’s website, allows individuals to submit ideas if they’re interested in becoming science advocates, including potentially participating in the Nebraska Science Festival or Science Café.
The same webpage allows for users to submit story ideas for consideration in UNMC Today.
“There’s nobody better than us, the scientists, to advocate,” he said. “We have the responsibility to get out there, connect with communities and communicate the value of science to the world.”
