Faculty development session to offer a map for career wayfinding

Josepha Cheong, MD, visiting faculty from the University of Florida College of Medicine, will facilitate an interactive workshop to help faculty navigate the possibilities for a career path in academic health sciences and develop strategies for future success.

There are many options for a faculty’s best career path. This “no bad choices” dilemma can lead to decisional paralysis, distress, frustration and lack of focus, ultimately stalling progress. Additionally, home and personal priorities can compete with the demands of a productive faculty career — increasingly so as faculty rise in rank and add complexity to their lives.

Dr. Cheong’s session, a customized version of a session previously delivered at the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Learn, Serve, Lead national conference, will help faculty develop a deeper understanding of techniques to identify goals, assess current situations and obstacles, generate possible solutions, and develop a plan of action.

The session will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 4053, with a Zoom simulcast for statewide locations. Faculty can register for the event at this link.
