Registration available for thoracic and GI oncology conference

UNMC will hold the 19th annual Fall Midwest Thoracic and GI Oncology Conference on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

The event, which will be held at the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Scott Conference Center, 6450 Pine St., will provide comprehensive updates on current treatment guidelines and delve into innovative therapeutic strategies for managing thoracic and gastrointestinal cancers.

Among the discussion topics are changes in treatment guidelines for lung cancers, issues in radiation treatment for small cell lung cancer treatment and the use of artificial intelligence in GI pathology.

The conference is targeted at medical providers, radiation and surgical oncologists, nurses, respiratory therapists and others caring for patients with thoracic and GI cancers.

Conference directors are Rudy Lackner, MD, professor of surgery with UNMC and chief of thoracic surgery, and Quan Ly, MD, professor of surgical oncology. The event is organized by the UNMC Center for Continuing Education.
