New faculty spotlight: Neil Hamill, MD

Neil Hamill, MD

Neil Hamill, MD, is a new faculty member at UNMC.

  • Name: Neil Hamill, MD
  • Current positions at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine: Associate professor, UNMC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology; maternal-fetal medicine physician, Nebraska Medicine
  • Hometown: Kansas City, Kansas

Education:

  • Medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kansas
  • Residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine
  • Fellowship in maternal and fetal medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit

Professional and medical interests: I am a passionate resident and student educator, with clinical interests in fetal echocardiography, as well as medical complications of pregnancy.

How I fell in love with my specialty: I am drawn to caring for pregnant patients for several reasons. First, I enjoy the challenge of caring for two patients at once. Second, my personal skill sets pair well with diagnostic ultrasound, which serves as our key tool for examining the fetus. Third, I appreciate the opportunity that caring for pregnancy may have to help improve the health outcomes for Nebraska’s children.

Three things people may not know about me:

  • I have been a proud husband for more than 25 years and have the joy of parenting three healthy children.
  • As a lifelong Kansan, I remain an avid Jayhawk. (Please don’t hold that against me.)
  • When I’m not working, I love to spend time traveling with my family.

Clinic location: Olson Center for Women’s Health at Durham Outpatient Center

For appointments and referrals: 402-559-6150
