Dr. Bagher invited to present before NIH commission

Pooneh Bagher, PhD, an associate professor in the UNMC Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology, recently joined a panel of experts who participated in the quarterly meeting of the National Commission on Lymphatic Diseases.

Dr. Bagher was invited to participate as president of the Microcirculatory Society.

The commission is part of the National Institutes of Health National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. According to the commission, the discussions, which involved almost two dozen representatives from different areas of health care, will help improve knowledge and practice guidelines, while helping address gaps in care for lymphatic disease.

Dr. Bagher said the NIH is moving forward with a number of initiatives to explore lymphatic diseases and lymphatic function, and many of the members of the Microcirculatory Society are active in this area.
