UNMC/Nebraska Medicine Information Technology is aware of the recent Microsoft Azure outage that has been affecting numerous businesses globally. That outage is due to a defective update deployed by CrowdStrike, an industry leader in cybersecurity. The company has confirmed this is not a cyber-attack.

UNMC and Nebraska Medicine systems and services utilizing the Microsoft platform have not been impacted by this outage.

UNMC and Nebraska Medicine core systems are functioning normally. However, some vendors have been affected. The IT team will continue to closely monitor the situation and remains in constant contact with its third-party vendors’ support teams.

Affected systems:

  • Nuance Dragon (Dragon Medical One, PowerMic Mobile, DaX Co-pilot, Dragon for Haiku)
  • CarePort/Allscripts (discharge planning)
  • Strata (financial reporting)
  • Duo Enrollment

This is a good time to remind everyone about business continuity and downtime procedures. Please share with staff where the procedures are and ensure they are up to date.
