A message from Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD

On Monday, July 1, after being named Interim Chancellor of UNMC, H. Dele Davies, MD, shared this message with the faculty, staff and students of UNMC.

To my fellow members of the UNMC community,

Following today’s announcement by University of Nebraska System President Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, I wanted to share with you how excited and honored I am to be serving as the Interim Chancellor of the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

During my time in this role, I look forward to working with each of you – the outstanding faculty, staff and students that make up the UNMC community – as we serve our communities, the state of Nebraska, our nation and the world. I am excited to build on the 10-year legacy of Dr. Gold’s leadership at UNMC, as we continue advancing in our mission to provide premier educational programs, world-class research and extraordinary health care for Nebraska and beyond.

Over my 12 years at UNMC, I’ve had the privilege to work alongside Chancellors Gold and Harold M. Maurer, MD, as well as a talented team of deans, faculty, staff and community partners to enhance UNMC’s academic programs and build the most learner-centered health science center in the nation. Going forward, I will work with you all to strengthen the relationships we have within the communities we serve, grow Nebraska’s health care workforce, expand our research breakthroughs, continue our commitment to educational innovation and, as always, pursue new opportunities for expansion of excellence on all of our campuses.

As I step into this new role, I want you to know that I am grateful for the trust placed in me to lead this outstanding university. I look forward to what we will accomplish together.
