UNMC named one of safest companies

UNMC has been named one of Nebraska’s Safest Companies – for the 15th consecutive year.

The designation is awarded by the National Safety Council-Nebraska, which marked a milestone this year with 100 years of commitment to safety in the community.

UNMC, along with 127 other companies leading in safety, was recognized May 1 at the safety council’s Celebration of Safety Luncheon at the La Vista Conference Center.

“The dedicated staff in environmental health and safety, public safety, facilities and compliance depend on the support of UNMC leadership, faculty, staff and students,” said Patrick Wortmann, executive director for UNMC Environmental Health and Safety. “Whether by sitting on our safety committees, reporting safety issues or completing incident reports, everyone plays a part in keeping our campus safe.

“This award serves as evidence that people care about safety and are willing to do their part, and we are grateful to everyone for their contributions.”
