T-Mobile joins med center’s distributed antenna system

T-Mobile customers now can enjoy the same cellular phone and capacity as Verizon and AT&T customers in the med center’s buildings.

T-Mobile has been added to the med center’s distributed antenna system, a network of small antennas that are installed throughout the main campus buildings to enhance cellular service. The system connects to the carriers’ networks via fiber optic cables and amplifies the signals to and from the cell phones.

The distributed antenna system allows mobile customers to use their cell phones in areas that otherwise would not get a signal, such as basements, elevators, stairwells and interior rooms.

It is compatible with any T-Mobile, Verizon or AT&T device that supports 4G LTE technology.

The connection will help users make and receive calls, send and receive texts, and access the internet with a cell phone without any interruptions or dropped calls. Users also can save your battery life and data usage by using the distributed antenna system instead of roaming or searching for a weak signal.

Users do not need to do anything special to access the system, but can use their cell phones as they normally would. With questions about the system, contact the IT Service Desk at 402-559-7700.
