Course on sickle cell care is April 25
Alex Nester, MD, and James Harper, MD, of the UNMC Division of Oncology and Hematology, will be joined by Shanda Ross of Nebraska Medicine and Yvette Miller, MD, of the Red Cross, to present a course on advances and challenges in sickle cell care at 4:30 p.m. April 25 at the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center, Room 0.12.01.
Free registration now is open for the course, which will enhance physicians’ and other health care professionals’ understanding of sickle cell disease by examining patient experiences, current treatments, genetic advancements and innovative care delivery models.

UNMC retirements announced
In April, the department of human resources announced two retirements:
- Jolene Gulizia, printing services, will retire May 3 (start date June 10, 1996)
- Tom Steinmeyer, UNMC Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology, retired April 6 (start date Dec. 30, 2019)
Food vendors on campus
Food vendors are available weekdays on the UNMC Omaha campus. Vendors are located on both the east and west sides of campus, serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily.
