Dr. Mannon awarded Medal of Excellence from AAKP

Roslyn Mannon, MD

Roslyn Mannon, MD, professor in the UNMC Division of Nephrology, received a 2024 Medal of Excellence from the American Association of Kidney Patients.

This award is one of the highest honors for kidney health care professionals bestowed by the American Association of Kidney Patients and is designed to elevate local, national and international figures who have been at the forefront of advancements in kidney care and patient empowerment.

“Recipients of this award are heralded by AAKP as exceptionally strong and unapologetic leaders in the noble fight to transcend status quo kidney care,” Edward Hickey III, president of the American Association of Kidney Patients, said in a release from the organization.

Dr. Mannon was honored in the transplant professional category and will be recognized at the American Society of Transplantation American Transplant Congress Town Hall in June.

“This award is a great honor and recognition,” said Dr. Mannon, who is vice chair of research for the UNMC Department of Internal Medicine. “It is a culmination of years of serving as an advocate for improving access and outcomes to patients with kidney disease, particularly those seeking transplantation.”

Dr. Mannon is a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Transplantation. She is a past president of the American Society of Transplantation, a deputy editor of the American Journal of Transplantation, a Trustee of the Banff Allograft Pathology Foundation and chair of the American Society of Nephrology Policy and Advocacy Committee.
