UNMC’s community partners are ready for summer

UNMC’s community partners are ready to help enjoy summer. Here are some special events that med center colleagues and their families can take part in this summer.

The Durham Museum is having a summer “block” party. “Towers of Tomorrow with Lego Bricks” partners some of the world’s most dazzling and innovative skyscrapers with the world’s most popular building brick.

The exhibit features 20 skyscrapers from North America, Asia and Australia constructed in architectural detail by Ryan McNaught, one of only 21 Lego-certified professionals in the world. McNaught and his award-winning team of builders have used more than half a million Lego bricks and devoted more than 2,000 hours to build the structures featured in the exhibition.

Visitors can build their own creations with more than 200,000 loose Lego bricks available in hands-on construction areas.

The Durham Museum provides free museum admission for UNMC faculty, staff, students and their immediate family with a valid identification badge.

At the Omaha Children’s Museum, enjoy “Jurassic Nebraska” and experience what life would be like if dinosaurs were around in today’s everyday life. Visitors can toss a football against some ferocious defenders, discover fossils in a giant dig pit, climb Chimney Rock to look a T-Rex in the eye and more. Regular museum admission required for those who are not current members.
