Alberto Marcelin, MD, named to new role in college of medicine admissions office
Alberto Marcelin, MD, has been named assistant dean for admissions in the UNMC College of Medicine. He will begin the position on July 1.
“Dr. Marcelin brings a depth and breadth of experience to this position,” said Wendy Grant, MD, associate dean for student affairs in the college. “His contributions to the admissions committee have been invaluable, and I look forward to working with him as we expand beyond our interview process into recruitment to our medical school in Nebraska and beyond.”
Said Dr. Marcelin, “I am honored to further contribute to the recruitment mission of the UNMC College of Medicine and show potential applicants all that the university has to offer. I hope to continue advancing our commitment to holistic review of applicants to ensure that our process is equitable.”
Dr. Marcelin is taking over the position from Beau Konigsberg, MD.
William Hay, MD, named Distinguished Fellow of Medicine
William Hay, MD, a clinical associate professor in the UNMC Department of Family Medicine, has been named a Distinguished Fellow of Medicine by the National Academies of Practice.
NAP is a non-profit organization founded in 1981 to advise governmental bodies on the health care system. Distinguished practitioners and scholars are elected by their peers from multiple different health professions to join the interprofessional organization dedicated to supporting affordable, accessible and coordinated quality health care for all.
