Trainees honored for posters, presentations at conferences

Cole Holderjano accepts an award at the Chlamydia Basic Research Society meeting in Berlin.

Cole Holderjano, an MD/PhD trainee who works in Dr. Scot Ouellette’s laboratory, won the Jane E. Raulston Award for Best Graduate Student Poster Presentation at the Chlamydia Basic Research Society meeting that was held in Berlin in March 2025. The title of his presentation was: “Chromosomally encoded RpoC_10xH: a new tool for investigation of the chlamydial transcriptome.”

Two IPID trainees won awards at the 56th Annual Midwest Student Biomedical Research Forum (MSBRF). Dylan George won third place in the oral presentation division through his presentation entitled “A novel fingerstick blood immunoassay used in a Nebraska community-based study highlights vaccination as a major driver of SARS-CoV-2 humoral immunity.” Gabrielle Schulze won second place in the poster division for “Identification of arginine transporters in Staphylococcus aureus.” Dylan and Gabrielle work in the laboratories of Drs. Jana Broadhurst and Paul Fey, respectively.
