Join the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine community as it comes together to kick off the third annual For the Greater Good from noon today (March 26) until noon on Thursday, March 27.
The 24-hour giving day serves as an opportunity for supporters of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine to unite and support a variety of critical areas, including departmental funds within Nebraska Medicine, dozens of unique UNMC scholarship funds and nearly 50 recognized student organizations.
Donors can spark another successful For the Greater Good and potentially raise even more money for causes that matter to them by participating in a variety of challenges during the giving day:
- Participate in the Labs of All Kinds challenge. Researchers can share a picture of their research, or donors can show how their own four-legged friends are supporting UNMC and Nebraska Medicine during For the Greater Good. Post photos on Instagram using #GreaterGoodGivingDay. One winner will have $250 added to their donation.
- Spread the word about For the Greater Good on social media channels using #GreaterGoodGivingDay and potentially unlock $50 for a selected fund. Find this year’s announcement video by visiting the For the Greater Good website.
- Students can put their detective skills to the test by participating in the Mini Ellie Scavenger Hunt. Try to find one of 10 plush Ellie labs hidden across UNMC’s campus during For the Greater Good. Each lab has its own gift value that donors can give to their preferred cause. Anyone who finds an Ellie lab can post it to Instagram or X with the message “I found Ellie the Lab! #GreaterGoodGivingDay” and tag the @unmcfund.
In addition to these challenges, Nebraska Medicine CEO James Linder, MD, will match up to $50,000 toward the Healing Stethoscope Sculptures Fund. By taking a photo next to the stethoscope sculpture on UNMC’s campus and posting it publicly to your social media channels using #GreaterGoodGivingDay, donors will be entered to win $500 toward the fund of their choice. Learn more about the Healing Stethoscope Sculptures Fund by visiting the For the Greater Good website.
