UNMC and Nebraska Medicine are encouraging supporters to keep growing the momentum surrounding this year’s third annual For the Greater Good on March 26 and 27.
The 24-hour giving day serves as an opportunity for supporters of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine to unite and support a variety of critical areas, including departmental funds within Nebraska Medicine, dozens of unique UNMC scholarship funds and nearly 50 recognized student organizations.
Donors and supporters can potentially raise more money for causes that matter to them by participating in a variety of challenges during the giving day:
- In recognition of UNMC’s research mission and/or Lab mascot, research advocates are asked to share a photo of how they – or their four-legged friends – are supporting UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. Participate in the Labs of All Kinds challenge by posting photos on social media channels using #GreaterGoodGivingDay. One winner will have $250 added to their donation.
- Spread the word about For the Greater Good on social media channels using #GreaterGoodGivingDay and potentially unlock $50 for the fund of the donor’s choice. Find all the tools and inspiration for the perfect post by visiting the For the Greater Good website.
- UNMC students can put their detective skills to the test by participating in the Mini Ellie Scavenger Hunt. Try to find one of 10 plush Ellie Labs hidden across UNMC’s campus during For the Greater Good. Each lab has its own gift value that donors can give to their preferred cause. Anyone who finds an Ellie Lab can post it to Instagram or X with the message, “I found Ellie the Lab! #GreaterGoodGivingDay” and tag the @unmcfund.
Gifts can be made online at the For the Greater Good website – greatergoodgivingday.org. Supporters who make gifts totaling $75 or more will receive a custom hat with the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine logo.
Donors also can support this year’s giving day by visiting the Nebraska Café from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on March 26 for free popcorn and For the Greater Good swag. Additionally, stop by the Durham Research Center from 8:30-11 a.m. on March 27 for a fresh cup of coffee to kick off the final day of giving.
