The new year brings with it several leadership changes at the Munroe-Meyer Institute.

“A generation of visionary leaders, who have greatly advanced our mission, are retiring. We are grateful for their hard work, leadership and great care,” said Director of the Munroe-Meyer Institute Karoly Mirnics, MD, PhD. “On the other hand, an amazing new group of leaders is picking up the mantle — full of energy, ideas and enthusiasm.

“We expect great things from them, as they have already demonstrated a skill set and vision that will take MMI to new heights. I am very enthusiastic to see how MMI will further evolve under their leadership.”

Leadership changes include:

  • Kerry Miller, PhD, was named associate director of Academic Affairs at MMI. She will take over the role from Keith Allen, PhD, who will step down at the end of June. Dr. Mirnics applauded Dr. Allen for the way he has “masterfully lead our educational enterprise.” Dr. Miller will assume her new role on July 1. “I have no doubt Kerry will be an amazing, thoughtful and tireless leader. She has impressed me very much with her ‘can do’ attitude, hard work and growth-oriented mindset,” Dr. Mirnics said.
  • Regina Carroll, PhD, has been named the associate director for clinical services at MMI. Amy Nordness, PhD, will continue serving as associate director of MMI. Dr. Carroll has led and established ACT clinics and served as associate director of integrated Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders. “Regina is passionate about our community and patient population, genuine and a pleasure to be around,” Dr. Mirnics said.
  • Jenny Burt, PhD, was named associate director of Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders (LEND) at MMI. Cindy Ellis, MD, will step down from the role in June 2026. This change will ensure a seamless leadership transition. Dr. Burt herself was a LEND trainee. “Jenny has been shaping and growing the academic and clinical enterprise with great success and care,” Dr. Mirnics said.
  • Tara Fahmie, PhD, was named director of the MMI Department of Severe Behavior. She will lead the department after the departure of Amanda Zangrillo PsyD. Dr. Mirnics called Dr. Zangrillo a “key pillar of MMI for many years,” adding that she masterfully led her department through transitions and systemic challenges. He went on to call Dr. Fahmie a dedicated, hard worker. “She deeply cares about our patients, faculty, staff and enterprise. Overall, she is an amazing leader,” Dr. Mirnics said.
