UNMC, Creighton to co-host interprofessional education conference

Devin Nickol, MD

UNMC and Creighton University will jointly host Collaborating Across Borders IX, North America’s largest international conference dedicated to advancing the field of interprofessional education and collaborative care.

Under the theme of “Converging Currents: Enhancing Health Outcomes through Interprofessional Collaboration,” the conference is scheduled for May 27-30, 2025, in Omaha at the Downtown Hilton.

UNMC is represented by Devin Nickol, MD, UNMC’s associate dean for interprofessional education and a professor of general internal medicine, while Creighton is represented by Jenny Jessen, EdD, executive director for the Center for Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research and an assistant professor in the Creighton University College of Nursing.

“Collaborating Across Borders is a great conference and a wonderful opportunity for UNMC faculty, staff and students to get their work in front of an international audience,” Dr. Nickol said. “It’s also a great place to learn about what’s going on in the field of collaborative practice and education.

“We’re very lucky to have this conference taking place in our own backyard, and anyone with an interest in interprofessional scholarship will get a lot out of attending.”

Collaborating Across Borders IX is co-sponsored by the American Interprofessional Health Collaborative and the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative.

The event reflects the commitment to enhancing patient care and outcomes through interprofessional teamwork. It will include keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops, oral, poster and Pecha Kucha presentations, and networking opportunities.

The conference website is open for abstract submissions – the due date has been extended to 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Jan. 6.

UNMC departments also are invited to participate in sponsorships. See information about sponsor and exhibitor opportunities at this link.

Conference registration opens on Feb. 17 at this link, and registrations are due by April 7.
