HOAA’s annual Halloween event is a treat

Approximately 25 children attended the annual HOAA event, including this pink dinosaur.

The Office of Graduate Medical Education and the House Officer Association Alliance hosted a group of children for trick or treating on Oct. 28 at the Wigton Heritage Center.

The annual event features representatives from medical departments and programs, who hand out treats to the children of UNMC residents. About 25 children attended the event.

“The Halloween event sponsored by the GME Office and the HOAA is another fun-filled event that focuses on promoting well-being for our house officers and their families,” said Chandra Are, MBBS, associate dean of graduate medical education. “This year, several house officers and their families joined in to share the joy of Halloween spirit.”

Erin Snow, director of graduate medical education, said the annual event is much anticipated.

“It’s always a joy to see some of our house officers and their families dressed in costume,” Snow said. “Everyone in the Office of Graduate Medical Education and staff members from several departments enjoy handing out treats to the children of our house officers.”

Dr. Are agreed.

“On behalf of the GME Office, we want to thank all the HOAA and all the medical departments and programs for participating in the event and making it a success,” he said.
