Dr. Marcelin selected for TRANSFORM program

Jasmine Marcelin, MD

UNMC’s Jasmine Marcelin, associate professor in the UNMC Division of Infectious Diseases, has been selected for the Transforming Biomedical Research and Academic Faculty through Leadership Opportunities, Training, and Mentorship (TRANSFORM) Program.

TRANSFORM is a year-long national leadership development program for mid-career faculty and is funded by the National Institute for General Medical Sciences. TRANSFORM is a partnership among five institutions– Association of American Medical Colleges, Meharry Medical College, University of Pittsburgh (lead institution), Oregon Health and Science University, and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

Dr. Marcelin was selected to join the third TRANSFORM Scholar cohort. She was chosen via a nationally competitive application process for this year’s cohort.

“I am thrilled to have been selected to join the program as a TRANSFORM Scholar,” she said. “ I hope to enhance my leadership skills which I can apply to more impactful service for our communities inside and outside of UNMC.”

Dr. Marcelin called her selection to the TRANSFORM program “an opportunity for me to unlock the next level of my career as a leader and health equity scholar with customized mentorship and coaching. I am looking forward to learning from my peer cohort and the esteemed faculty who are established scholars and leaders in academic medicine.”

The goal of TRANSFORM is to transform the biomedical and academic institutions by ensuring “that URM faculty at the associate professor level acquire the leadership skills and experiences needed to advance successfully into senior faculty and leadership positions at their academic institution and nationally.”
