UNMC Campus Engagement encourages ‘an attitude for gratitude’

A leaf in fall

As the fall continues, UNMC Campus Engagement invites UNMC faculty, students and staff, along with Nebraska Medicine colleagues, to participate in an item exchange called “An Attitude for Gratitude.” The exchanges will take place via intercampus mail from Thursday, Nov. 14, through Friday, Dec. 6.

The item exchange offers an opportunity for participants to share and receive a token of gratitude, express what they are grateful for and uplift the med center’s organizational ITEACH value of healing. It is aimed at fostering well-being and engagement across the med center.

This year is the first year the initiative is expanding beyond UNMC Academic Affairs to the entire campus.

Registration is due by Nov. 11. To sign-up, use this Microsoft Form.

A kick-off reception is planned for Thursday, Nov. 14, from 10-11:30 a.m. in Sorrell Center’s Linder Reading Room on the second floor.

Participants are encouraged to share items through this initiative that are inspirational, organizational swag, practical or family friendly as an extension of the spirit of gratitude and cheerfulness.

Dan Teet, international student advisor for the UNMC Office of Global Engagement, said last year’s exchange was a fun way to surprise someone he didn’t know and that he looks forward to participating again this year.

“The gift I received from another stranger was very thoughtful, and I could tell they paid attention to my identified interests from my registration,” Teet said.

UNMC Campus Engagement also is excited to extend participation and serve additional faculty, staff and students.

“Engaging people and units across the campus is what we enjoy doing, and we are excited to find additional ways to do so,” said Sheritta Strong, MD, assistant vice chancellor for engagement.
