RiteCare Conference offers education, networking

The Munroe-Meyer Institute hosted this year's RiteCare Conference in late September.

More than 80 attendees from a dozen states attended the RiteCare Conference hosted by the Munroe-Meyer Institute in September.

The conference offered sessions on leadership, literacy, speech and language.

“It was a good way for the RiteCare community to meet and learn from each other,” said Susan Fager, PhD, director of MMI’s Speech-Language Pathology Department. “It offered a nice mix of clinical and leadership training with opportunities to connect and collaborate with RiteCare clinics across the nation.”

RiteCare Clinics offer care to patients with a wide range of speech and language disorders. The clinics, which are spread across the country, are funded by the Scottish Rite Masons. Nebraska locations, which include three affiliated with MMI, are in Omaha, Lincoln, Hastings and Kearney.

The RiteCare Conference is held every two years in one of the cities where RiteCare has clinics.

In addition to education opportunities, attendees were able to tour and learn about MMI.

Dr. Fager said, “It was a great opportunity to showcase MMI’s unique clinical work for children with communication needs to a national audience.”

“We’re very fortunate, and we’re doing some really special things here at MMI,” she said. “It makes you realize that we’re on the right track, and it makes you thankful for the wonderful resources we have.”
