Beginning Monday, Oct. 7, the med center’s campus shuttle program will stop service weekday nights at 8 p.m. The service previously ran until 10 p.m., and the change is in response to extremely low ridership after 8 p.m.
Med center leaders announced the change today after a one-month analysis of the pilot campus shuttle program for the midtown Omaha campus.
No other immediate changes are planned, and the 14-passenger dual-branded shuttles now will operate from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. Two shuttles will continue to operate during peak times, and one shuttle will be available during non-peak hours.
Since its launch Aug. 19, the pilot program has averaged 100 riders per day, leaders say. That number is expected to increase as the weather changes. Campus leaders continue to review the efficiency of campus routes and are working on a mobile app that allows riders to see where the shuttles are at any given time.
Shuttle rides are free and available to all med center employees, students and patients.
