The International Virtual Reality Healthcare Association’s Healthcare Demo Tour comes to UNMC’s Omaha campus Oct. 10 in conjunction with iEXCEL’s two-day Innovation in Health Professions Education Forum.
The free demos, billed as an emerging technology showcase, will feature industry leaders in immersive technology presenting their companies’ latest innovations through interactive, hands-on demonstrations. There are 15 booths set to be available.
Faculty, students, staff and Nebraska Medicine employees are invited from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. to take part and offer feedback on ways they might use the technology for teaching or other applications.
The event also features a showing of a documentary film featuring interviews with multiple iEXCEL and UNMC faculty and staff. “The Pitch: Patient Safety’s Next Generation” is from the makers of “To Err Is Human: A Patient Safety Documentary.” The real-life story follows “one young innovator’s journey into the business of medicine,” according to promotional materials. A post-screening discussion will follow the movie. RSVP to this UNMC events email by Oct. 3 to reserve a seat.
The International Virtual Reality Healthcare Association tour is part of an eight-stop swing through the Midwest and Texas. For more on the free event, go to this link. Association members include technology companies, hospitals, universities and health care and insurance companies.
A forum on Oct. 11 is invite-only and will feature discussion on emphasizing human performance and effectiveness, ensuring equitable access to experiential learning and growing the iEXCEL business mission. Collaborators will discuss accelerating adoption of immersive reality and GenAI. The forum is the launch of “iEXCEL 2.0.”
