MMI, Autism Eats to offer sensory friendly dinner

Attendees dine during the first Autism Eats event.

The Munroe-Meyer Institute once again is teaming up with Autism Eats, a national organization that helps families experience judgment-free dining.

The sensory friendly dining experience is set for Oct. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Zio’s Pizzeria, near 129th Street and West Center Road.

Families can pre-register and pre-pay at autismeats.org. Cost is $16 for adults and $10 for children under 10. The cost includes tax and tip.

Financial assistance may be available. There is no registration deadline, but reservations are capped at 65 diners.

Food will be served buffet-style, with a menu including pizza, salad, chicken strips, fries, soda and dessert. Halloween candy will be available, and costumes are encouraged.

The building is fully accessible, and dinner will be served in a private party room, which accommodates 70 people.
