How I fell in love with emergency medicine: I was a third-year medical student who was still unsure of what I wanted to do, and I rotated through the emergency department at a suggestion from a friend and future co-resident. On my first shift, I was amazed at the variety of patient presentations and the ability of the physicians on shift to be able to manage them and do procedures, as well as the collaboration they had with multiple other specialties and services. I ended up deciding after one shift I was going to pursue a career in emergency medicine.

Three things people may not know about me:
- I played baseball in college at a small school here in Nebraska.
- In my free time, I enjoy doing lots of baking and trialing new recipes. I make a very solid chocolate chip cookie that has been popular in the department when I was a resident.
- I am an avid golfer and am hoping to be a scratch golfer someday (big aspirations).
