Dave Wordekemper, a candidate for the Nebraska Legislature in Legislative District 15, visited UNMC for a tour on Sept. 9. Wordekemper, a firefighter and paramedic who is from Fremont, was joined by his wife, Barb, a registered nurse.
They received a tour of the Davis Global Center and the iEXCEL program from Moriah McCune, the program’s community engagement coordinator.
McCune said the Davis Global Center is the largest health care simulation center in the country. She showed the Wordekempers the facility’s holographic theater and interactive digital iWall technology and walked them through the clinical and surgical simulation floors.
Wordekemper called the facility impressive and innovative.
“When you tour here, you can see the benefit – how it’s benefiting not just Nebraskans, but everybody in the United States with medical technology and innovations,” Wordekemper said. “And I think that’s really impressive to have that here in Nebraska.”
He said he appreciates the UNMC community’s hard work and dedication to advancing the science of health care and making people’s lives better.
